Just read today the price for surrendering a conviction. It’s $28.50 per barrel of crude.
What other conclusion can you draw from a March 1 announcement with great fanfare that Shell Oil, “appalled” at Russia’s rape of Ukraine, would buy no more Russky crude?
Followed by Shell’s March 4 purchase of 100,000 barrels from Russia — discounted $28.50 apiece from prices by other suppliers like the Arabs.
Nothing like a bargain to test convictions, even if the bargain is drenched in the blood of innocents, right?
A modest proposal to our Democrat-controlled Congress: Impose an instant $28.50 per barrel tax on Shell. And any other covert bargain-shoppers. That’s $2,850,000 for this purchase alone.
Make it a use-tax earmarked for more Stingers for Ukraine, and maybe some more of those Turkish drones they use so well. I know we’re too gutless to fly our Predators over the battle and lay waste to a madman’s disorganized blitzkrieg.
We’ll probably have to see Europe enchained all the way to the Channel again before we move. If then. I too well remember the “Better Red Than Dead” chants back during Khrushchev's and Brezhnev's tenure. And history says Eisenhower was afraid to unleash Patton for a thunder run to Moscow to unseat “those Commie bastards” before they ever got The Bomb.
Appeasement never works. Maybe taxation of profiteers can help in some small way. Call it the Chamberlain tax as a mea culpa for giving away Poland to appease Hitler back in the day. More slingshots for David!
